Kristy Hurt: The Art of Networking Through a Pandemic and into The Future

Kristy Hurt is an HR Consultant and Creator of the Professional Networking Group, The Co-Lab

Kristy moved from Texas to New York City not knowing anyone in the late 90s and fearlessly pursued a role in retail finding a connection with the original founders of Kate Spade who brought her on as their top Manager in SOHO.

From Kate Spade, Kristy once again, fearlessly reached out to the prestigious LVMH fashion group where she pivoted from stores to corporate taking on an HR generalist role, allowing her to cultivate amazing relationships in the luxury retail space throughout NYC and across North America.

To her core, Kristy’s passions lie in helping individuals find jobs and build connections and after 5 years with LVMH (and having twins) she was ready to go off on her own, establishing Kristy Hurt Consulting offering HR Consulting and Retained Search along with One-on-One coaching.

Her BIG pivot came in March 2020 where at the start of the pandemic lockdown she established retail networking group to bring people together looking for support and to share ideas on how they can navigate their next career move and make meaningful connections during this uncertain time.

And thus, The Co-Lab was formed.

From a google group, to a full-on Slack Community hosting events all over North America, if you are a professional looking to join a diverse and inclusive group of passionate individuals and make some really cool friends, The Co-Lab is for you.

In this episode we discuss:

  • How to network with a purpose and ask for what you want

  • Why building relationships is the key to your career success

  • Successfully building visibility for your offering/business on a social networking group

  • How everyone is not your competition (finding your superpower)

  • What to do next in the great “re-shuffling” and why people are leaving their jobs

Stay until the end for the Meghan Houle Method Tip of the Week about how to kick off a job search!
