Your 2023 Roadmap to Career Clarity and Job Satisfaction
If you are a person who feels absolutely certain about the direction your career is heading and have set actionable goals to make all of your professional dreams come true, you have career clarity.
Congratulations!
You deserve all of the flowers for all of the work you’ve put in to get there.
But let’s be real. (It’s our 2023 motto, right?!)
As a Master Leadership and Career Clarity Coach along with my role as a Senior Executive Recruiter for luxury brands who has helped place thousands of professionals in their dream jobs, I know that the majority of you probably don’t feel that way. At least not with absolute certainty.
Feeling like having this level of clarity when it comes to your career or future can seem out of reach. And you know what? It’s way more common than you think.
Shake your head yes if any of these possible reasons hit you in the feels. Maybe you:
Believe that what you desire is in direct conflict with what you can actually accomplish
Are fearful about making major decisions and are facing mindset blockers
Are too distracted or comfortable to reflect and refocus
Are focused on making as much money as possible rather than actually enjoying the work you do
Pay too much attention to other people’s opinion of what you should be doing rather than what you actually want to do
Have applied to every job you’ve found whether it meets your needs or not to quiet your inner intrusive thoughts that say you aren’t doing anything to drive change
The truth is that you aren’t alone.
There are so many other professionals who have realized their values are out of line with the position they currently hold or the job they’ve been applying for.
The media is now calling the “Great Resignation” the “Great Reshuffle” and are reporting that some 53% of employed U.S. adults who quit their job in 2021 changed their occupation or field of work at some point last year.

In 2022, I witnessed a major shift in rehiring due to positions that were cut during the pandemic. There was a demand to bring in new talent and a rise in digital and creative roles since brands were realizing that their online presence was the key to staying resilient in the face of any economic downturn.
So job seekers evolved to match this demand and started to re-evaluate what really mattered. They began paying close attention to how they wanted to be treated at work if their work environment was toxic or non-flexible, and their current work/life balance.
Fast forward to 2023 and companies are ready to pay for good talent. I’ve seen it firsthand.
But if you are not crystal clear about what your skills are, the value you can add to a company, what it is you really want to do, and be able to articulate it all, hiring managers and recruiters will sniff it out right from the initial interview and you will struggle to get hired.
Companies are taking less risk in hiring (it seems someone is always looking for that “unicorn candidate”) so you need to come with your CONFIDENCE and bring your A-GAME in every interview, every time.
As the saying goes, it is not always the most capable that gets hired, it is the most confident.
So how can you ensure you have the clarity you need to get hired in 2023?
The first step I always instruct my clients to take is to do a self-assessment.
A self-assessment is a process that allows you to learn more about your values, identity, and goals.
When done the right way, it can help you increase your self-knowledge and confidence, help you make better decisions, and allow you to be super honest with yourself about what you need to improve on.
And, let’s face it. We could all stand to iron out some of our kinks, right?
It’s time to get real with yourself about what you really want in life. I’ve created a worksheet that can help give you that clarity and vision so you can take stock of what makes you truly happy. And yes, it’s completely free! But it’s so valuable, I should probably charge for it soon!
Here are some questions you may want to ask yourself to get your wheels spinning, as you take a step back and reevaluate what your values and needs are this year:
What’s the most important thing in your life right now?
What gives you a sense of purpose?
What are your values?
Who do you admire and why?
What would you do if you couldn’t fail?
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
